How I Platinumed Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is one of those games that's completely different than any other. Some might say it's just a major QTE game, but it's much deeper than that. You know the feeling when you're watching a movie for the 2nd or 3rd time and you know the results so you start shouting for the actor to do something else, but of course he doesn't? Well, unlike that movie, if you play Heavy Rain again and completely change the outcome of the story.

But enough about that. I mean ... the title of this post is how I platinumed that game. But what's so important about platinuming a game? I mean what could possibly be interesting in this post.
Well, first of all, anyone who went for the platinum trophy of Heavy Rain knows that it's really time consuming. I mean, get every ending of this game? Come on. Have a heart. But I agreed to those terms and began my journey where I will face my worst gaming fear.

Day 1 (and all other days until the final day)

I began my first play-through which was the fun play-through. I just completed the game anyway I want and got an awesome ending. (No spoilers here, don't you worry) I also got a few other trophies until there were only two left, the platinum trophy and a really annoying trophy called "Perfect Crime".

The Final Day (At least, I thought so)

This is it, I've played through the game one final time, and reached the part where I actually had to take a specific decision to continue on. Well, at least I thought it was the final time I play through that game. But to my frustration, Whatever I did there always seemed to be one thing that my character did, and that wasn't what she needed to do so I could earn the trophy. So yes, I had to repeat the game for like the 4th time.

The Real Final Day

This is it, I was in the same place again, having the same decision once again. Will the game glitch? Well I prayed to God that it won't, and God was on my side that day. IT WORKED! Finally I hear a magnificent voice that is the Trophy Ding, as I call it. And then I hear it again, this time it's the ding of the platinum trophy.
This trophy was really a pain in the ass to get, and after that glitch, it couldn't get any worse. Well, I finally did it, and I'm happy now.

How to Decide What Console to Buy

First of all let me make this clear: this has nothing to do with the console wars as I do not approve of such nonsense. Every gamer knows there are 3 major consoles right now: the PS3, the 360, and the Wii. But how can someone new to gaming, or someone deciding to buy a new console, well, decide? Well, it mainly depends on what the gamer wants:

Case 1: The Casual Gamer

You are just a gamer looking for easy, casual games to play during your spare time. Nothing serious. What I suggest is getting a Wii. I'm not saying the Wii doesn't have hardcore games, but most of its games are meant to be fun, easy, and great for the whole family. Take Wii Sports for example. It's a really fun game to play with friends and is a really addictive game. But no one will keep playing it forever since there is nothing to earn from it. No collectibles, awards... But since you just wanna have fun, the Wii is the console for you.

Case 2: The Hardcore Gamer

Now there are two consoles to buy here. Either the PS3 or the 360. But which to choose? Well, let's find out.
If you're looking for great exclusives than you should go for the PS3. The PS3's exclusives are what makes it what it is. Whether it's a unique game like Little Big Planet, or a great 3rd person action game like God of War 3, the PS3 is just filled with exclusives. If you're also looking for a great, free online experience, the PS3 has that too.
On the other hand, if what you're looking for is simply online gaming, I think the 360 is better at that since it has a larger community, although you'll have to pay 50$/year for online play.

Conclusion

In my opinion, if you're looking for a system that does it (almost) all, I'd say the PS3 is the best choice since the online community is growing, online play is free, it has many major exclusives, and the Move out which might give the PS3 some casual games.

Features That Would Make Arkham City a Great Sequel

Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the most successful games of 2009, with a great storyline, characters, and battle system, it was one of my favorite games ever. But what could make Arkham City as successful as, if not more successful than, Arkham Asylum?
  1. Multiplayer has been announced for this game. It seems like a really cool feature, but what I'm worried about is whether this will affect the single player campaign in any way. I don't want developers to concentrate on the multiplayer part of the game since what I really enjoyed was the amazing experience of playing through the campaign.
  2. Many gadgets: Although two extra gadgets have been announced for the game, and all the previous gadgets are already there (some improved) I would love to see many more gadgets that make batman what he is.
  3. Characters: Bringing back characters from past comics was a great idea, but I would love it if the game included features, whether it's side-missions or something similar to audio logs in Arkham Asylum, that remind us of the character's story during the classic comics.
I'm sure Rocksteady won't disappoint us, but I would sure love it if they included some of these features. And I'm sure you've got your own list of features you would like to see in this game, so go ahead and comment to let me find out!

Advantages and Disadvantages of Having a Gamer Girlfriend

Although many people don't realize it, guys aren't the only people that play video games. Many girls, whether they're good at it or not, play video games. But what if you decided to date a gamer? How good will that actually be? Well read on to find out.

Advantages:

Think about it, a girlfriend that's into gaming. First of all, no more arguments about whether you're spending too much time on your favorite gaming console or not. She'll probably just sit down next to you, excited as much as you are about what will happen next during the game. She might even play with you rather than nag about spending too much time on your console.
Another great thing is what presents you'll get each other. She might (and most probably will) still want the latest shoes and handbags, but that doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy the occasional video game every now and then. And she'll probably even enjoy buying you a disk too!

Disadvantages:

First of all it might seem like heaven, right? But think about it more deeply now. You're playing a game of Call of Duty, proud of your high Kill death ratio, when she asks you to let her play a couple of rounds. You don't want to ruin things with this girl, I mean, she's a gamer, right? So you give her the controller. And after a few rounds you notice how much she actually sucks. And then you stand there thinking: What's happening to my K/D ratio? Why did I agree to this? And there is nothing you can do.
So you won't be able to spend as much time as you want on your console since she'd want her turn. Even if you bought her her own console, she'd still want the occasional multiplayer games with her boyfriend. So this a real major problem.

Conclusion

Although it might seem fun at first, over time you'd hate the fact that she's a gamer too and that she loves her console as much as you do. She'll want to spend more time playing with her boyfriend than play on her own. So I guess it's your decision. You can either sacrifice a few hours of gaming on your own to spend time with her, or you can just forget about your relationship and go back to your ever-loving console.

The Top 5 Sexiest Video Game Girls of 2010!

There has been a lot of discussions going around about who's the sexiest video game girl. Well, to each one his opinion. So, heck, why not give mine?

#5: Madison Page (Heavy Rain)

Heavy rain has one of the most realistic-looking characters of all time. Mix that game with a hot journalist and you have one of the hottest video game characters of all time.

#4: Bayonetta (Bayonetta)

A witch whose clothes are made up of her hair. What more can you ask for. This is one video game character most would like to meet.

#3: Dead or Alive girls ( Dead or Alive Paradise)

Dead or Alive is one of the hottest games ever. Although you won't actually get a HD view of the girls, it's a PSP so the small screen makes up for the resolution.

#2: Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)

Although many people would disagree and say that her sister Serah is much sexier, in my opinion she is the hottest of all Final Fantasy characters (except, of course, Tifa).

#1: Aphrodite (God of War III)

The goddess of beauty and love. With her boobs fully exposed. And a nice sex scene with the famous Ghost of Sparta, Kratos. Aphrodite is, by far, the hottest game character of 2010.

Civilization V Review

Civilization, one of the best strategy games of all time, has made it back to strategy-lovers' PCs with Civilization V. And why wouldn't it? Civilization V takes the best parts of all Civ. games to create one of the greatest strategy games of all time, read on to find out why in this in-depth review.

Graphics

Everything is really detailed and looks amazing. The only real problem is that during a big game, it might lag a bit, unless you have an extremely powerful video card.

Gameplay

Civilization V is a game about .. well .. civilization. You start out as a nation of your choice, during the time period of your choice and with as many other countries as you would like. If you choose the oldest time period, for example, you start out with old, traditional technology and your nation keeps on advancing based on your choices.

Choices are really important in this game. Each nation has its own special bonus. Germany, for example, has powerful military units which aids it greatly in military combat and battles. And players get to choose whether they will be peaceful, aggressive, cultural, ... You can either make a peaceful agreement with another player/AI and join forces, ignore them, or simply battle them till that nation is no more. There are many other choices too, like the buildings you'll construct ... and that's what really makes this game what it is.

Lifespan

Previous Civilization games were all addicting and kept us staring at our PC, or console(in the case of Civilization Revolution), and this game is no different. Although there is no campaign mode, this game will keep you entertained with all the upgrades, battles, and customization. Expect many hours studying your nation and how you could beat other players, in any possible way.

Conclusion

Civilization is a turn-based strategy game for every strategy player, or anyone even interested in strategy games. With all the replayability, or multiplayer madness with all your friends, you're sure to enjoy this amazing game!

PS3 Update 3.50 Features and Hidden Features!

Sony has just released firmware update 3.50, which offers many new features:

These features include:

  • 3D Support for Blu-ray movies: This is no surprise as Sony already announced this feature.
  • Playstation Move can now be used as a cursor in the web browser: This is actually a really cool feature, but the problem is the browser is still not that reliable.
  • User reports can now be sent directly from friends list: This is a feature just to ease the way to report users.
  • 3D information on the screen if the game supports 3D: This is another minor feature, but it seems pretty cool.
  • Access to Facebook profile: Now other than just letting people on Facebook know when you earn a trophy, you can now access your profile.
  • Better explanation of the 14 most important errors: Now instead of just showing you confusing numbers when an error is detected, you actually get an explanation.
  • Updated interface for the PlayStation Plus section in the PlayStation Store: Another minor feature, the PlayStation Plus section of the Store now has a better, updated interface.
  • New Qriocity icon in the music section: This explains itself doesn't it?

Hidden Features:

  • New wallpaper behind the PS Store icon.
  • Photo Gallery now with new wallpaper in the background.
  • New Photo App "PlayMemories ", available on the PlayStation Store. Provides 3D and Panoramic photo support.
Well it seems Sony are really interested in 3D, and it shows in every system update. But there are some other cool features too.

Five Video Game Skills Anyone Would Want

  1. Ezio's climbing skills (Assassin's Creed II): It's surprisingly cool for a quick getaway and attracts most ladies' attention, and you also won't need the front door to visit your girlfriend at night. What more could you ask for?

  3. Hulk's incredibly high jump (The Incredible Hulk): Do I really need to explain myself? Doesn't the ability to jump high and fall a zillion feet do that already?
  4. Rewind time (Colin McRae's Dirt 2): A second chance is what we all wish for, right? Bad choice, wrong girl, or any other problem, all you have to do is rewiiinnnndddddd

Halo Reach Review

Earlier this week, the long-awaited Halo Reach was released all around the world.

What is Halo Reach?

Halo Reach is many things. For some, it's a game with an outstanding single-player campaign. For others, it's a massive multiplayer game. As for the rest, probably both. But what makes this game what it is? Why is Halo such a succesful franchise?Well, read on for this in-depth review of Halo Reach.

Graphics

As soon as you start playing Halo Reach, you'll be amazed by how incredible everything looks. From the amazing views to the color palette. Everything just looks astounding. That's not to say it doesn't have its mistakes. Occasionally the frame-rate drops because it can't keep up with all the action going on around you, and sometimes the game disappoints you with lack of detail during massive battles.

Gameplay

Not much has changed from past Halo games. There's a co-op campaign filled with massive battles against the Covenant aliens, an outstanding online competitive multiplayer mode, Firefight mode, and settings anyone can change to their liking.
But there are many changes in the game too. First of all, and most importantly, Master Chief is out. This time you play as a nameless hero, Noble 6. Players customize Noble 6's look on their own.
The whole campaign will last you about ten hours on your first play through. During the campaign you'll meet many challenges, big battlefields, aliens, incredible weapons and vehicles, you name it.
What if you haven't played any other Halo games? Not to worry, although Halo Reach is more compelling to longtime Halo players, the game can still stand on its own.
Now what I liked the most were the Armor abilities. These new addition to Halo give the game more flexibility. But what are they, exactly? Well, armor abilities are temporary, but reusable, upgrades that give you abilities like sprinting, invincible armor, and best of all, jet packs!
Jet Packs!!

Lifespan

From the incredible campaign to the compelling multiplayer mode, this game will leave you begging for more. Even after finishing the campaign, you'll want to repeat it, increasing the difficulty, or setting a personal goal, or just for the fun of it.
The multiplayer mode is even more addicting. Whether it's challenging your friends or becoming the world's top Halo player, you'll always keep coming back for more!

Conclusion

With outstanding graphics, a compelling story, and an addicting multiplayer mode, what more can you ask of a game? This is one of those games that drops your heart rates as you see it on your shelves, it's as good as it can be so I suggest buying it as soon as possible.

Do you have another opinion about this game? Tell me, I'm interested, in the comments section.

What To Expect From the PSP 2!

One of many unofficial PSP2 concepts!
Recently, MK developer Shaun Himmerick announced that they "have a PSP2 in the house. It's pretty powerful." So many gamers have a question in their heads right now: What can we expect form the PSP2? Well, the question is there in my head too, so I decided to show you what I think the PSP2 has in store for us.

  • Himmerick also said that they are looking at both the PSP2, and are planning on getting a 3DS to test the new Mortal Kombat game on it too. If that game is going to be released on both consoles, might the PSP2 be 3d-compatible? Sony are obviously intertested in 3D, with 3D games now available on the PS3, and the next PS3 update allowing 3D Blu-ray movies, A PSP2 with 3D support doesn't sound like such a crazy idea!
  • One of the most demanded features for the PSP2 is a right analog stick, and if Sony have proven anything in the last 15 years of gaming is that they give the public what they want. So chances of a right analog stick, in my opinion, are pretty high!
  • What about the touchscreen? People are demanding that too. But in my opinion, it's not going to happen. Think about it, a PSP with a touchscreen and 3D support, isn't the Move enough for Nintendo fans to accuse Sony of copying it's products?
  • I can't tell you much about the PSP's power since not much is known about that except that "It's pretty powerful" as Himmerick said!
Well, that's my opinion about the PSP2, all we can do now is wait and hope for the best! All Sony had to say after Himmerick is that they "haven't announced any news on PSP."
Well, what do you think about this? Tell me in the comments section!

The Last Guardian Thoughts

Earlier today at TGS, Team ICO showed a trailer to the public where The Last Guardian gameplay was shown. We see the boy moving around and climbing obstacles as well as commanding the Cat/Bird/Dog creature, which we'll call the Guardian, to go to specific places, or to even carry the boy. By the looks of it, the game might seem repetitive, but with enough variations to the puzzles, this game seems pretty awesome! Ueda also didn't want people to presume that the ending is sad, based on the games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. "It's open-ended" he says. So it's up to the player to figure out the ending. This is also great because, as we all know, gamers love mysteries. And what better mystery than the ending of this long awaited game!

Is the Playstation Move Worth It?

With the Playstation Move only 1 day away, many people are wondering if it is worth buying it. Well, it depends. The PS Move is releasing tomorrow, and there aren't many Move compatible games yet. Will developers really go for PS Move compatible games? No one really knows right now, so in my opinion, buying it on the very first day is a mistake. I think people should wait a while, a month or two maybe, and see how it works out. It may seem like a really good device, but what really matters is how game developers will treat it. So wait a while then make your decision. What do you think? Post it in the comments section.

Black Ops Info and Opinion

What is Black Ops?

Call of Duty : Black Ops is the seventh main installment of the Call of Duty and is currently being developed by Treyarch. It is planned to be released on November 9, 2010.

Multiplayer:

General:

  • The max reachable level is 50 and prestige mode is still there. Nothing really special here.

  • The vehicles are back, but they are different than the ones from World at War. Not all of them are map items. Some come as killstreaks.

  • But what's really interesting is the new Theatre mode where players can record, replay, edit and upload their own gameplay. There many awesome effects too like changing from 1st person point of view to 3rd person. And adding slow-motion and fast forward! This looks really good and got me real excited! I can't wait to just record a cool kill online and show it to you guys. This just looks incredible!
  • In-game currency is used to purchase weapons and upgrades. This is another cool feature. Now you don't level up to unlock new weapons and upgrades, but you actually obtain in-game money to buy those weapons and upgrades! But the player still needs to level up to unlock the upgrades so that he can buy them. There are also some game modes where you can actually gamble the money, called CoD Points, but we'll go into those later!

Gametypes:

  • Team Deathmatch is back. But this time, bonuses like headshots will be added to the team's score!
  • Capture the Flag
  • Search and Destroy
  • Demolition
  • Hardcore Team Deathmatch
  • Headquarters
  • Sabotage
  • Domination
  • Combat Training: A fight against enemy AI.
Contracts:

Contracts, in addition to the classic challenges system in Black Ops, is a system where players buy specific contracts with their CoD points, receive specific challenges, and earn more CoD points

Wager Matches:
In Wager matches, players are able to gamble their money in different game modes, but only the top 3 players earn extra money, whereas the others lose:
  • One in the Chamber: Each player is given a pistol with one bullet and a knife. A player earns an extra bullet for every kill, but each player only has 3 lives. This looks real awesome, imagine the pressure when you have just one life left and no more bullets, and you are one of the two still in the game. That would be so awesome!
  • Sharpshooter: Each player is given the same random weapon which changes every 45 seconds, players earn perks for kills. This also looks great, mainly because it's the fairest game mode in any Call of Duty game.
  • Sticks and Stones: Each player has only a Crossbow, Ballistic Knife and a Tomahawk. But what players should really be worried about is that if he gets hit by the Tomahawk, he is automatically Bankrupt.
  • And finally, the best in my opinion, Gun Game: Every player starts with a pistol and after each kill the players weapon is upgraded into a stronger one. The first player to get a kill with all 20 weapons wins, but if a player is knifed, his weapon will return one level.

Campaign:

Not much is known about the Single-player campaign but there will be a multiplayer campaign different than the single-player campaign, where up to 4 players can play. This also looks awesome, I really loved Spec Ops in Modern Warfare 2 but a whole Multiplayer Campaign looks even better!

Fallout: New Vegas Impressions

About New Vegas

Fallout:New Vegas is an upcoming role playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks. This is not a direct sequel to Fallout 3 although it uses the same engine and has some of the the same features. It's official release date is October 19th in North America and October 22nd in Europe.

What do I think about it?

Graphics:

This game really doesn't seem to be concentrating on its looks rather than its gameplay. If you have played Fallout 3 you won't notice much difference and would be disappointed if good graphics were what you were looking for. But sometimes the gameplay is so good that graphics won't really affect the game's experience!

Gameplay:

Not much is known about the story, but other than that the game doesn't seem to have changed much from Fallout 3. And why would it? Other than concentrating on changing the game's mechanics, Obsidian seem to be improving on what was a truly great game. Adding iron sights is a great new feature. Allowing you to actually rely on it rather than relying on the VATS (which is still included in New Vegas). And it seems you can also control team members to do as you order them in a fast and easy way using some sort of wheel. The atmosphere has also changed. Say hello to blue skies, green nature, electricity, gambling and pubs. Viva New Vegas!

Conclusion:

Well this has got to be one of the games I'm most excited for. Two years ago Fallout 3 launched and two years later I'm almost (yea, almost) done exploring everything in the game. Ending it just in time for (hopefully) yet another long-lasting, breath-taking experience that is Fallout! Tell me what you think about this game in the comments section and I'll make sure to reply!

The Best Playstation 1 Games!

Here I was today thinking: What was my favorite PS1 game? How great were PS1 games? Which were the best? And so I decided to give my top 5 favorite ps1 games.

#5: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Who would have ever thought a skating game would be so successful. This is by far one of the best PS1 games of all time. Well, the 5th best!

#4: Gran Turismo
The PS1 is where this all began. Gran Turismo. Arguably the best driving simulator ever! I'm not much of A racing game fan but this is one is so good that I just had to love it!

#3: Castlevania Symphony of the Night

Wait what? A 2D game on the PS1? Well, I don't know how Konami convinced Sony to allow this game but I'm glad they did. It's just so great I keep playing it every once in a while and always keep wanting more.

#2: Final Fantasy VII

This is a game that every gamer should play! Fantastic RPG with a great story! Whoever never heard of this game is either not a gamer or should improve his news database! This game made history and all I can say is... I LOVE SEPHIROTH'S MUSIC!

And finally #1: Metal Gear Solid

I have only recently played this masterpiece ( I wrote an article about it too) and this game is magnificent! From the battle with Psycho Mantis to the torture room and the surprising story of Solid and Liquid Snake, this game will keep you playing it until your eyes pop out of your eyeballs!

And this concludes my top 5 PS1 games of all time! What's your opinion and your top 5 PS1 games? Share them in the comments section below!

Will the Days of Modern Warfare Ever Be Over?

Today my friend came over and he's a big Call of Duty fan. And so he convinced me to play Modern Warfare 2 online. I was kind of expecting fewer players than when the game was released. But to my surprise there were more players. And that surprised me because of all the newer FPS online games like MAG and Bad Company 2 .

So why is this game so famous? Well in my opinion, Call of Duty is a respected series because of it's huge success in the past. So many people think that no company can make a better FPS. But that's not to say I agree with them. Call of Duty is a great series, don't get me wrong! But it's not the only one out there.

If you agree, or you don't, give your opinion in the comments section!
