Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Announced!

Nope, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, nor is this a dream. Uncharted 3 is officially announced! When I read the headline I was just shocked, but turns out it is true, and all our dreams are coming true! I guess Christmas really is a magical time!

You still play as Drake, this time searching for the legendary "Atlantis of the Sands" with your old pal Victor "Sully" Sullivan. You both set off to the Arabian desert, where a terrible accident happens, transforming this quest to a long, hard road of survival, where Drake faces his deepest fears. I wonder what those are.

And finally, multiplayer will return, with more "extra features" that we will know more about later I guess. Oh, and one more thing, Uncharted 3 will feature Stereoscopic 3D! That's right, not only will there be awesome explosions, but there will be awesome explosions in 3D! Imagine that!

Well, to wrap things up, why not watch this trailer:

Christmas Wishlist Competition

Well, as you all know, Christmas is coming soon and you need to get your gaming wishlists ready! Well, I will post my top 10 most wanted gaming-related items, but this time, with a twist. I will give hints, some hard ones and some easy ones, and you're going to have to guess the item. The person that guesses the most items wins first wins a mention on my blog, twitter account AND Facebook page . I will mention any name you want or any link you want me to mention (I will be checking the links first). Well, here we go (Remember, guess the game, not the character):

#10: I have been loved and cherished by many, I was found in a beautiful city,
People can't stop playing with me, making this huge city shitty!

#9: I am found in a great game, where prisoners have gone wild,
I remind a crusader of his past, back when he was a child.

#8: I am lost, in this big wide world, it never seems to come to an end,
And when I finally complete a stage, others just come from users' hands.

#7: I just saved my wife and son, but then came a big surprise,
A creature came close and soon I would go on another quest in a blood-filled paradise (well not exactly a paradise)

#6: Alive I was left for dead, but then came my luck and my life had been saved.
But what I knew as I was cured by a doc was that whatever lies ahead, I knew I was fucked!

#5: I am always happy, whatever the case,
Dress me as a clown, or punch my little face

#4: Feeling wild? don't know how to start the party?
Then buy me and you'll know what starting the party really means.

#3: Oh my god! I'm gonna KILL YOU!
And it's not going to be fast, it's gonna be GRUESOME!

#2: Well, I'm not found in a video game, but in here it's CRAZY!
I just keep bouncing off the walls, the vibration is KILLING ME!

#1: Well, I'm finally here, on the list and in the real world
You've been waiting for me, and HERE I AM!

Killzone 3: A Feature We Begged for in Killzone 2

It has just been announced that the much-anticipated Killzone 3 will feature split-screen multiplayer. If you're a Killzone fan you might have noticed that Killzone 2,unfortunately, did not have split-screen multiplayer. But that is all in the past. Killzone 3 is looking better every second, and I can't wait to try it out and to render my friends to ashes. Can you?

Should You Buy All the GT5 Crap?

You guys probably heard that GT5 is being judged based on the really minor glitches and bad details the game has, and reviewers aren't looking at the game as a whole but just looking at the bad parts of the game.

If you don't know what Gran Turismo 5 is, go look it up and continue reading, because you really should know what it is. Anyway, as I was saying, GT5 is getting really modest review scores like 8/10 and 4/5, but does it deserve these scores? NO, it deserves much, much better scores! Have you ever seen a racing game do so much? The countless cars, the incredible tracks, the huge variety of gameplay!

You get more than 1000 cars, 200 of which are premium cars, which are cars that are designed with incredible detail and support cockpit view for the first time in a GT game. But the game is criticized by the lack of detail in standard cars. Well, look at other racing game cars, then at GT's standard cars. See the difference? The standard cars are definitely good looking, but compared to the premium cars, people find a huge difference.

Also you get a lot of variety in gameplay like Karting and Rally aside from the incredible damage system later on in the game. And with an incredible multiplayer mode that just can't get any better, this is definitely the Racing Sim of all time! Buy it or miss out on an massive, incredible game.

Black Ops Kicks Ass

I'm sure most of you have bought one of the most anticipated games this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops. Well, I bought it too and I have to say, the Modern Warfare 2 killer is here! First off let's start with the single player campaign. Sure, when we first played Modern Warfare 1, we loved the campaign, it was something new and intriguing. But with the release of MW2, things just got repetitive. And that's where Black Ops comes in. The single player campaign in Black Ops is outstanding! This time, there is an actual story that doesn't just tell you to shoot people for no reason. The plot is great and unpredictable, I won't tell you more but you'll love it!

Multiplayer is also really improved. I remember when I used to play MW2 and sometimes it took about 10 minutes to find a game and that was really a pain in the ass. But in Black Ops, 10 seconds is the most it took ... EVER! I didn't expect it to be that fast, but it was. And also, with the new Wager Matches and the great amount of customization, this is definitely a better experience than Modern Warfare.

More Super Meat Boy Character Announced

If you are like me, you're probably excited for Super Meat Boy. And with new character announcements getting better and better, could anyone not like it? Well, there are two more characters announced for Super Meat Boy, and those are Headcrab from Half-life and the Goo Balls from World of Goo! But there's a catch. You can't get both since Headcrab is exclusive for the Steam version of the game, whereas Goo Balls are exclusive for the non-Steam versions.

And now, there is only two more characters to be revealed, and all we have are their outlines. Any guesses?

Remeber the Broken TV Due to Kinect?

Remember when I wrote about the dude who broke his brand-new TV while using the Kinect? Well, Penny Arcade just released a comic strip that I just couldn't resist not showing it to you guys. Well, here it is:
Comment and let me know what you think about it!

Some Great GT News

I know, I know, I've been talking a lot about Gran Turismo lately, but it's not my fault! A lot of news about Gran Turismo has been going around lately, with the delay of the release date and the stamping of discs and all that other news. But this time I have some good news, and I think you will all love it!

Gran Turismo 5 has a FINAL(Yes, it's final) release date which is November 24! I know, it's so close! And I know most of you are going to buy it on day 1, and buying a game on day 1 is risky. But who cares? I'm buying it on day 1 too, I'm too excited! Well, do you think this is really the final release date or does Kaz want to make the game even more "perfect"?

You Buy Black Ops, You Buy Another Game Too

2:12 PM

Black Ops just released a few hours ago, and it was discovered that not only do you get the incredible campaign and multiplayer action, you also get a little extra something.
After entering the game, you are introduced to the menu. It's a man, sitting in front of a TV screen. The screen having all the options of the game. But, if you are able to find out how, you can get off the chair and walk around, finding a little computer somewhere in that room.
When you sit on the computer, you need to enter a code, and you are greeted with a super-fun arcade game called Dead Ops Arcade! Sounds fun right? Well it is! It's a 2D game where you get guns and RPGs to fend off zombies of all kind.
This is not the original zombie mode of the game, obviously, but it's a really cool arcade game and everyone should try it! Just figure out how to make it to the PC, the internet is filled with tutorials, and let me know what you think.

Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas?

11:23 AM
Yesterday I just bought Fallout: New Vegas from the local video games store, and I thought it would be interesting to list the differences between Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, and to help you decide which one you should buy.
Well, first of all, graphics between Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are practically the same thing, but New Vegas has slightly improved graphics. But that's no major difference and I don't think graphics should be an element that will affect your choice.
Check out this awesome Bloody Mess cake!

Fallout 3 is obviously older, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has more add-on content, and all lags and problems are fixed, if there were any in the first place. Whereas New Vegas is, well ... new. And it's filled with lags as you read in a previous post I wrote. But although it's new, it has some really awesome creatures, weapons, and gameplay material. The most awesome one being hardcore mode which lets you play the game with tough elements like dehydration and ammo weight...
But which one should I choose? you ask. Well, in my opinion, New Vegas has real potential, and from what I've seen, it's really, really, really great. But, I can't make the decision for you, so make your own, and think wisely.

Do Not Play Naked!

5:52 PM
Follow the above advice wisely, and don't play any, and I mean any Kinect game naked, or you'll be embarrassed like the girl above.
She had no idea the Kinect took pictures while a person is playing, and so decided to play naked. But she was surprised when she later figured out that photos were taken, and she found no way of deleting them.
So please, if you love humanity, don't play any video game naked.

Someone Already Broke His TV With Kinect

4:05 PM
Can you feel any worse than Phil Villarrea? He was the first, yes the first person to break his TV with Kinect. And what's even worse was that the TV was brand new, and now he has no way to enjoy his Kinect.

Poor TV, crying rainbow tears.
How did he break it, you ask? Well, he hit the chain that comes dangling down the ceiling's fan, which hit the TV, breaking it. Poor Phil.

Let this be a warning to all, stick to the controller. Or just be careful for god's sake!

More Awesome News: Development Is Underway on GT6

He created it. He can destroy it... But he won't, hopefully!
As a follow-up to yesterday's awesome news, we got some more awesomeness to be told! Kaz announced in a recent interview at the 2010 SEMA Show that GT6 development is underway.

But don't get too excited though, it took GT5 5 years to be released after GT4, so we can expect this to take even more time if Kaz wants it even more "perfect", which is his excuse for all the GT5 release delays. But if this game is released, and it meets my expectations, which are high, all is forgiven Kaz!

News of The Day: The GT5 Discs Are Being Stamped Right Now!

Nope, this isn't an illusion, nor is it a dream, this is REAL! Recently, Kazunori, the genius behind GT5, announced that, "The [GT5] discs are being stamped as we speak" in an interview at SEMA!
I'm guessing that's the motion he did with his hands when he announced this? Who cares?!

This is really exciting news, as we can expect GT5 to be released before the Holidays! And you know what that means! I'm sure most, if not all, of the PS3 owners will have a GT5 disk under his Christmas tree, if not already opened and inside his Playstation!

I don't know about you but this really got me excited! I mean seriously, aren't you guys excited for this too?

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Glitches, bugs, problems. These are all things we despise in video games! But what do you do when a great game got released, and it could have been the greatest game of the year, if it wasn't for all the glitches? Do you buy the game, and try to live through the frustrating glitches, or just wait for months before the game is stable again?

Well, that's the decision I'm facing right now. As you should know, Fallout: New Vegas was released earlier, and it is filled with bugs and glitches. Actually, it has so much bugs, that the game got popular because of that! With youtube videos spreading all across the Web showing different bugs and glitches, I was sort of let down by that. For example take a look at the video below:

Obviously this will drive people away from this game since this is the opening scene of the game, and it's usually what makes the game count!

So what do you think I should do? Buy the game now, or wait and get it later?

Halloween Fever Is Burning Up!

The Jack-O-Lanter! What's up with that guy anyway?

Tonight is Halloween, and I can't wait to put on my costume and go trick or treating, and then eat candy! Well, that's what I would've said about 8 years ago. But tonight, it's party time!

But that's not what I'm really excited for, as much as I'm excited for what's after the party! You guessed it, one of many Halloween gaming frenzies is being held, and I'll be dead if I miss it!

First off, we got many games to play including: Dead Space, Resident Evil, Bioshock, and much much more!

Tonight is really going to chill every bone in my body, hopefully! How about you?

Hybrid Announced by 5th Cell

Yes the countdown is complete, the game is revealed, and it seems promising!
Taken directly from the website!

If you haven't heard, 5th Cell posted a countdown on their website about a week ago, and the countdown completed today! And it revealed one hell of a promising game! The game is called Hybrid, and you can check out its interactive website here.

All we have now is that website and a trailer, which you can watch below:

Obviously, the Variants are the evil side of two teams, the Variants themselves, and the Paladins. The game is a 3rd person shooter, and it's probably an army vs. army game, sorta like Killzone, except probably not as good. Nevertheless, this game looks really great, and I can't wait to find out more about it.

Starcraft 2 Is Really Outstanding

I know, I know, why am I talking about Starcraft 2 now? It's been a while since it's been released. But I just couldn't resist the urge of writing something new about Starcraft 2 since I'm still extremely addicted to that game.
The breath-taking battles!

To tell you why playing a game for 3 months is incredible for me, you need to know a little about myself first. I usually buy a game, play it, finish it, get me a bunch of trophies/achievements (if not all of them) and then simply stop. And this takes me about 1 month.

But Starcraft is different. It has no achievements or trophies. You just have the game. But you can never stop playing. But it's a strategy game, you build an army and attack your opponent and that's it right? WRONG! It's not as simple as just building an army and attacking. It's a strategy game. You need to think of the ways to overcome your opponent's forces while increasing your income and keeping up with your units.
This guy right here, he ain't the boss. You are!

You do what you want.
You order your units.
You are the commander.

Just thinking of not playing that game gives me the creeps. I don't know if I ever will stop playing it. Until, of course, Starcraft 3 is released. So I got about 11 years to go, right?

Red Dead : Undead Nightmare ... This Will Take The Whole Night!

Run Marston, Run!
There has been a lot of buzz about Undead Nightmare and I have to admit I got a little excited, so I booted up my PS3, went to the PS store and purchased the DLC.

About 5 seconds later, after buying the game, I found out that the DLC is about 1700 Megabytes large! Now, I don't know about you guys, but to me this is massive! But I don't blame Rockstar. I mean, the game does have a whole new Single-player experience with new enemies and weapons. But with my crappy internet connection, this DLC will take almost one whole night to download ... at least.

Uncharted 3: World of Deceit (Could It Be True?)

Just recently there seems to be some leaked concept art for the unannounced Uncharted 3: World of Deceit. Here are some of the pictures:
These seem pretty believable, unless someone was so bored he decided to create some incredible pictures and claim they were for Uncharted 3, but I doubt that. Hopefully Naughty Dog will respond to these pictures, then we'll find out whether they're fake or not. For more pictures go to this site and tell me what you think.

Fallout MMO : What We Want

Yes it can! (Hopefully)
Ah Fallout, one of the greatest RPGs ever, don't you agree? But we always ask ourselves, what if fallout was a MMO? How awesome would that be?
Well, wait no more... actually just a little more since a Fallout MMO is in the makings and is planned to be released somewhere by the end of 2012.
But what can we expect from that game, and what do we want?
  1. Well, first of all, enhance the graphics. We can't be playing a 2012 game with 2008 graphics, that would be annoying.
  2. Also, give us many interaction features, with NPCs and with other online players. Imagine the possibilities if we have full interaction with one another. You could actually, for the first time, be pick-pocketed by a player and then get blown up from a live grenade he placed in your pants!
  3. What we also would love is to create posses. Although this is no new innovation, it would definitely be fun to create a posse with your friends and go on a rampage!
  4. Finally, give us more WEAPONS! I'm not saying Fallout doesn't already have many, many weapons. All I'm saying is that we can never have enough, can we?
What do you want to see in a Fallout MMO? Let us find out!

5th Cell Announcement Coming In About 1 Week

The Countdown
5th Cell, the people behind the great game Scribblenauts, have just posted a countdown on their website for a big game release. All we know about it is that it will be released on XBLA and will be a "completely new experience" for gamers.

Scribblenauts was already a great new experience on the DS, and now a game for Xbox is pretty exciting. What sort of game do you think 5th Cell is bringing us?

Kirby Delayed for Europe and Australia Until 2011

It's just too cute not to love
Yes, you heard it, our cute round little creature Kirby will be taking a while to reach our friends in Europe and Australia, although Kirby's Epic Yarn was already released earlier this month in the U.S. and Japan.

This is really disappointing news for Europeans since this game really seemed to be a great one. Well, I guess you guys have to wait till 2011 to lay your hands on this game. Or you could import a new Wii and Kirby's Epic Yarn from the U.S., but I don't think you should be that desperate... or should you?

New Wipeout Possibly Coming Our Way

Sony Liverpool's Studios are the geniuses behind one of the best futuristic racing franchises ever, Wipeout. And now they're hiring "an experienced and upbeat Senior Designer to work with a talented and experienced team on a high profile, futuristic racing franchise."

Unless they are planning on creating a new high profile, futuristic racing franchise, it seems that Liverpool Studios are planning on either releasing a new Wipeout game or a new DLC is coming our way.

Twisted Metal Coming to PSOne Classics

According to ESRB, the ground-breaking, awe-inspiring, car-destructing PS1 game Twisted Metal is coming to PSOne Classics in the PS Store. It seems it will be released somewhere around the time the PS3's sequel of Twisted Metal, also titled Twisted Metal, is released.

This is one of the greatest PS1 classics in history, and to be honest it took SONY a while to release it. But it's here now, and if you've missed this on your PS1, you should definitely pick it up from the PS Store once it's released.

Anyone other than me planning on purchasing this game?

Minecraft: The Possibilities Are Endless

Recently I just bought one of the most talked about games right now, Minecraft. I didn't know anything about the game, I just created an account, signed in, and got thrown into a world made out of blocks. I had no information about the game except from a couple of online tutorials.

As I started collecting wood and experiencing the crafting feature of the game, I noticed that people could really create a whole lot more than what's obvious! I watched a couple of videos where some people created water slides and even roller coasters! And the game is still in Alpha so, who knows what's more to come!

Of course, I couldn't create any of those stuff yet, since I only just begun. But I think after a while, I will truly discover what this game is capable of. And to show you what I achieved in my first minutes of playing this game, check out the video below:

Gamer Hits 500K Gamerscore!

That's right, Xbox 360 gamer Stallion83 has reached 500,000 Gamerscore on his trek to be the first gamer to reach 1,000,000 Gamerscore!

Stallion83 already appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records to no surprise, and now, being halfway to 1 million Gamerscore, he's the most talked-about gamer again!

All I have to say is congratulations sir, you deserve it! And if you want to be updated about Stallion83's journey check out his website.

Gran Turismo 5 Delayed: Will We Ever Play It?

Playstation revealed the GT5 will be delayed ... again, and fans are outraged. Gran Turismo 5 is what's supposed to be the best racing simulator ever! But according to Kazunori Yamauchi, they are delaying it again to make sure gamers get the best possible experience out of the game.
The game was set to be released this November 2, but it's now delayed to be released somewhere around the holidays (we don't even have a specific date to be looking forward to)! I mean, one time's fine, twice ... acceptable, three times an outrage, and with even more than that? Well, I don't know how much more fans can handle!
And how much more does Kaz want to polish the game! We've seen gameplay, read news and info about the game being demoed at many game conventions, and it seemed to be an excellent game! Well, maybe when GT5 devs said the game was more suitable for a next-gen console, they meant it! Well, I certainly hope not. And I don't think you do too.

Medal of Honor : 2010's Disappointment

There is a border separating hype and over-hype, and frankly I believe that medal of honor has exceedingly crossed that border.
From it's announcement to the numerous teasers and ads, Medal of Honor seemed to be the shooter that could finally earn the title of the "Call of Duty Killer", but as expected by many, it failed ... immensly.

What the Game Promised

When first announced, we found out that you control a soldier for the Tier 1 Operators, an army Tier where only a few hundred soldiers are qualified for. This sounded pretty cool, being a soldier of a super-strong army force.
We also had many imaginations in our minds when we were told about the levels and the variety of locations. From snowy levels to the streets of Afghanistan, we expected a great experience.

What Reality Would Bring

Believe it or not, Medal of Honor gave us only a spec of what was expected. Although the maps seemed pretty adequate, you wouldn't really notice that due to all the frustration you got not knowing where to go next and how to end your mission. The HUD always seemed to lead you to the wrong places and I don't know if that was intentional, serving as a lame way to increase game-play time, or just a major flaw in the game. Either way it was a really annoying aspect of the game.
Also, the game is filled with cliche events and quotes, contrary to the promise of really knowing what Tier 1 operatives go through everyday. From the big explosions, to the expected deaths of U.S. soldiers, there is barely any event that gives you the feeling of awe and interest.
Finally, and more importantly, that game doesn't feel like a modern game at all, given that enemy AI will just stick to one position, popping their heads in and out of cover. This is the real major flaw, and that's where you notice that Danger Close didn't even nail the gameplay.

The Verdict

This is possibly video gaming's disappointment of 2010. The true definition of over-hyping a game is shown in this game full of mistakes and flaws. Does it deserve all that hype? Not at all.
Do you think it does?

Gran Turismo 5's Potential

"Finishing races is important, but racing is more important." -Dale Earnhardt.

And that's what you notice first when you play GT.You are amazed by the physics of the game, the sounds of the cars, the environment around you, everything is always perfected. Will GT5 keep the reputation going? Let's find out shall we?

The Graphics King is Back

As everyone who has ever played a Gran Turismo game knows, this is a game that always has the latest and greatest graphics in gaming. As a matter of fact, GT5's graphics are so advanced, developers said it was better suited for a next-gen console!

Cars, Cars, and More Cars

Gran Turismo 5 has the largest collection of cars in any GT game, with more than 1000 cars! Almost any racing car you can think of is definitely found in that game, with incredible detail. Here's a comparison screenshot from US.Gran-Turismo.com to demonstrate my point:
Which is from real life?

Where To Race?

Gran Turismo 5 will feature over 70 different tracks, although not much is know about them. But with 70 different tracks and over 20 different scenery, expect a massive game with eye-popping tracks and locations!

So, Is It Worth All the Hype?

This a one game that looks amazing. Not only visually, but the physics of the game, the tracks, the options, everything just looks incredible. Is it worth the hype? It most definitely is.

Motion Gaming, 3D Gaming, What's Next?

If you haven't already heard, PS3 and Xbox are both introducing motion and 3d gaming to their consoles. But the question is, what does this leave for future consoles? Well I thought about that too, and came up with only one possible answer: Mind-controlled video games!

Why and When?

Why? Well, since there isn't anything left. Think of it this way: Right now you can play a 3-Dimensional racing game while steering your car simply by rotating your hands. Now, replace the arm rotation by nothing other than your thoughts. Sounds pretty awesome, right? But what comes after that? Well, the only thing that I can think of is actually being in the game, but that probably won't happen for a long time.
But when can we actually expect mind-controlled video games for our favorite consoles? Well, not anytime soon I suppose. With motion and 3D gaming scarcely being released, expect at least 5 to 7 years until mind-controlled gaming is revealed to the crowd.

Although this might seem like a great idea now, imagine life where only mind-controlled gaming exists. No more buttons, no more movement, just sitting there, staring at the TV, thinking. Sounds pretty dull doesn't it? Let's face it, nothing can really replace the legendary controller, and nothing ever will.

Achievements vs. Trophies

“"I'm glad I did it, partly because it was worth it, but mostly because I shall never have to do it again” -Mark Twain.
These are the thoughts of most people after earning a really hard trophy/achievement. They're glad they've earned it, but mostly that they won't have to earn it again. But if both the trophy and the achievement have similar goals and the same feats, what sets them apart from each other?

Interface

After earning a trophy or an achievement, you'll be greeted by a graphic and sound clip. Everyone knows there is nothing more satisfying than hearing that glorious sound and seeing the name of that very annoying and hard achievement/trophy that you just earned. But the main difference I noticed between both is that a trophy takes a while longer to show up than the achievement, which isn't such a major problem but could give you some suspense moments at times.

Rewards

The rewards you get are pretty silly, but also really similar. While achievements earn you clothing or items for your avatar, trophies can also earn you clothing and items for your Home character/apartment.
Also, when you complete an achievement, you earn points that just keep increasing. You can earn the same amount of points by either finishing half the achievements of 2 games, or all the achievements of 1. Whereas Trophies have a different story. There is something called a Platinum trophy, which you earn by completing all other trophies, that gives you a major increase in your level(similar to Achievement's points, just by level) so earning half the trophies of 2 games won't earn you the same increase as earning all trophies of one game.

Conclusion

All in all there is no winner, it depends on your taste. The trophies come a little late but give you a bit more competition with the platinum trophy, whereas achievements appear instantly but points aren't as competitive.

Analyzing Trophies and Achievements

On our guide to Earning More Trophies/Achievements we saw that the first step is analyzing the game's trophies or achievements to figure out whether to go for all of them or not. But how exactly do you do that? Let's find out shall we.

How Much Free Time Do You Have?

As you're scrambling through the trophies/achievements you'll want to concentrate on real time-consuming trophies, depending on how much time you have. If you have nothing else to do but play the game, you may skip this paragraph. If not, read on.
So, you don't have much free time, but still, you want to go for as much achievements as you can. But how do you decide which to go for? Well, it depends on the trophies. As you read through them, and read what's asked to earn them, you'll want to take note on time-consuming ones such as beat the game on hard difficulty settings, or obtain all endings (like in Heavy Rain). Ok so now what? Do you just skip those trophies and go on? Well, no.
First of all do some research. How long is the game? Do you have enough time to complete it twice or three times? How many endings does the game include? These are really important questions to answer since knowing how long the game actually is will let you decide if you have enough time or not.

(Almost) Impossible Trophies

If you have a lot of free time, doesn't mean you can go for all the trophies either. There are many trophies that are almost impossible to get. For example, in the game Killzone 2 on PS3, there is a trophy where you have to be in the top 1% of the week's online players. I'm not saying this is impossible, but you're going to have to need a lot of training and, dare I say, obsession to the game. Since you're going to have to play this game about 12 hours per day for a week, and be extremely good at it too, to obtain this trophy.

Secrets of Earning Many Platinum Trophies/ Achievements

"The most essential factor is persistence - the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come." -James Whitcomb Riley.
What many people don't notice is that what's really needed to earn an achievement is persistence. Not long ago, I published a post on How I Platinumed Heavy Rain and if you read it you'll notice that what's really needed to earn the platinum was persistence. And although I'm not really the persistent type, I set a goal in my mind and wouldn't stop until I achieved it. But enough about me, how can you earn your achievement?

Well, all you need is 3 simple steps:
  1. Analyze Trophies/Achievements: Take a look at the available trophies/achievements to decide whether it's possible to get them all or not.
  2. Make a Roadmap: Decide how you will go for the platinum. What achievements to go for first and what's the best/fastest way to earn them all.
  3. Persist: Definitely the most important part of the process. Never give up. You can do it and you know it.
Really studying the available trophies can really help with making a roadmap, and remember you should never give up on your goal.
What's your process of earning trophies/achievements?

How I Platinumed Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is one of those games that's completely different than any other. Some might say it's just a major QTE game, but it's much deeper than that. You know the feeling when you're watching a movie for the 2nd or 3rd time and you know the results so you start shouting for the actor to do something else, but of course he doesn't? Well, unlike that movie, if you play Heavy Rain again and completely change the outcome of the story.

But enough about that. I mean ... the title of this post is how I platinumed that game. But what's so important about platinuming a game? I mean what could possibly be interesting in this post.
Well, first of all, anyone who went for the platinum trophy of Heavy Rain knows that it's really time consuming. I mean, get every ending of this game? Come on. Have a heart. But I agreed to those terms and began my journey where I will face my worst gaming fear.

Day 1 (and all other days until the final day)

I began my first play-through which was the fun play-through. I just completed the game anyway I want and got an awesome ending. (No spoilers here, don't you worry) I also got a few other trophies until there were only two left, the platinum trophy and a really annoying trophy called "Perfect Crime".

The Final Day (At least, I thought so)

This is it, I've played through the game one final time, and reached the part where I actually had to take a specific decision to continue on. Well, at least I thought it was the final time I play through that game. But to my frustration, Whatever I did there always seemed to be one thing that my character did, and that wasn't what she needed to do so I could earn the trophy. So yes, I had to repeat the game for like the 4th time.

The Real Final Day

This is it, I was in the same place again, having the same decision once again. Will the game glitch? Well I prayed to God that it won't, and God was on my side that day. IT WORKED! Finally I hear a magnificent voice that is the Trophy Ding, as I call it. And then I hear it again, this time it's the ding of the platinum trophy.
This trophy was really a pain in the ass to get, and after that glitch, it couldn't get any worse. Well, I finally did it, and I'm happy now.

How to Decide What Console to Buy

First of all let me make this clear: this has nothing to do with the console wars as I do not approve of such nonsense. Every gamer knows there are 3 major consoles right now: the PS3, the 360, and the Wii. But how can someone new to gaming, or someone deciding to buy a new console, well, decide? Well, it mainly depends on what the gamer wants:

Case 1: The Casual Gamer

You are just a gamer looking for easy, casual games to play during your spare time. Nothing serious. What I suggest is getting a Wii. I'm not saying the Wii doesn't have hardcore games, but most of its games are meant to be fun, easy, and great for the whole family. Take Wii Sports for example. It's a really fun game to play with friends and is a really addictive game. But no one will keep playing it forever since there is nothing to earn from it. No collectibles, awards... But since you just wanna have fun, the Wii is the console for you.

Case 2: The Hardcore Gamer

Now there are two consoles to buy here. Either the PS3 or the 360. But which to choose? Well, let's find out.
If you're looking for great exclusives than you should go for the PS3. The PS3's exclusives are what makes it what it is. Whether it's a unique game like Little Big Planet, or a great 3rd person action game like God of War 3, the PS3 is just filled with exclusives. If you're also looking for a great, free online experience, the PS3 has that too.
On the other hand, if what you're looking for is simply online gaming, I think the 360 is better at that since it has a larger community, although you'll have to pay 50$/year for online play.

Conclusion

In my opinion, if you're looking for a system that does it (almost) all, I'd say the PS3 is the best choice since the online community is growing, online play is free, it has many major exclusives, and the Move out which might give the PS3 some casual games.

Features That Would Make Arkham City a Great Sequel

Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the most successful games of 2009, with a great storyline, characters, and battle system, it was one of my favorite games ever. But what could make Arkham City as successful as, if not more successful than, Arkham Asylum?
  1. Multiplayer has been announced for this game. It seems like a really cool feature, but what I'm worried about is whether this will affect the single player campaign in any way. I don't want developers to concentrate on the multiplayer part of the game since what I really enjoyed was the amazing experience of playing through the campaign.
  2. Many gadgets: Although two extra gadgets have been announced for the game, and all the previous gadgets are already there (some improved) I would love to see many more gadgets that make batman what he is.
  3. Characters: Bringing back characters from past comics was a great idea, but I would love it if the game included features, whether it's side-missions or something similar to audio logs in Arkham Asylum, that remind us of the character's story during the classic comics.
I'm sure Rocksteady won't disappoint us, but I would sure love it if they included some of these features. And I'm sure you've got your own list of features you would like to see in this game, so go ahead and comment to let me find out!

Advantages and Disadvantages of Having a Gamer Girlfriend

Although many people don't realize it, guys aren't the only people that play video games. Many girls, whether they're good at it or not, play video games. But what if you decided to date a gamer? How good will that actually be? Well read on to find out.

Advantages:

Think about it, a girlfriend that's into gaming. First of all, no more arguments about whether you're spending too much time on your favorite gaming console or not. She'll probably just sit down next to you, excited as much as you are about what will happen next during the game. She might even play with you rather than nag about spending too much time on your console.
Another great thing is what presents you'll get each other. She might (and most probably will) still want the latest shoes and handbags, but that doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy the occasional video game every now and then. And she'll probably even enjoy buying you a disk too!

Disadvantages:

First of all it might seem like heaven, right? But think about it more deeply now. You're playing a game of Call of Duty, proud of your high Kill death ratio, when she asks you to let her play a couple of rounds. You don't want to ruin things with this girl, I mean, she's a gamer, right? So you give her the controller. And after a few rounds you notice how much she actually sucks. And then you stand there thinking: What's happening to my K/D ratio? Why did I agree to this? And there is nothing you can do.
So you won't be able to spend as much time as you want on your console since she'd want her turn. Even if you bought her her own console, she'd still want the occasional multiplayer games with her boyfriend. So this a real major problem.

Conclusion

Although it might seem fun at first, over time you'd hate the fact that she's a gamer too and that she loves her console as much as you do. She'll want to spend more time playing with her boyfriend than play on her own. So I guess it's your decision. You can either sacrifice a few hours of gaming on your own to spend time with her, or you can just forget about your relationship and go back to your ever-loving console.

The Top 5 Sexiest Video Game Girls of 2010!

There has been a lot of discussions going around about who's the sexiest video game girl. Well, to each one his opinion. So, heck, why not give mine?

#5: Madison Page (Heavy Rain)

Heavy rain has one of the most realistic-looking characters of all time. Mix that game with a hot journalist and you have one of the hottest video game characters of all time.

#4: Bayonetta (Bayonetta)

A witch whose clothes are made up of her hair. What more can you ask for. This is one video game character most would like to meet.

#3: Dead or Alive girls ( Dead or Alive Paradise)

Dead or Alive is one of the hottest games ever. Although you won't actually get a HD view of the girls, it's a PSP so the small screen makes up for the resolution.

#2: Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)

Although many people would disagree and say that her sister Serah is much sexier, in my opinion she is the hottest of all Final Fantasy characters (except, of course, Tifa).

#1: Aphrodite (God of War III)

The goddess of beauty and love. With her boobs fully exposed. And a nice sex scene with the famous Ghost of Sparta, Kratos. Aphrodite is, by far, the hottest game character of 2010.

Civilization V Review

Civilization, one of the best strategy games of all time, has made it back to strategy-lovers' PCs with Civilization V. And why wouldn't it? Civilization V takes the best parts of all Civ. games to create one of the greatest strategy games of all time, read on to find out why in this in-depth review.

Graphics

Everything is really detailed and looks amazing. The only real problem is that during a big game, it might lag a bit, unless you have an extremely powerful video card.

Gameplay

Civilization V is a game about .. well .. civilization. You start out as a nation of your choice, during the time period of your choice and with as many other countries as you would like. If you choose the oldest time period, for example, you start out with old, traditional technology and your nation keeps on advancing based on your choices.

Choices are really important in this game. Each nation has its own special bonus. Germany, for example, has powerful military units which aids it greatly in military combat and battles. And players get to choose whether they will be peaceful, aggressive, cultural, ... You can either make a peaceful agreement with another player/AI and join forces, ignore them, or simply battle them till that nation is no more. There are many other choices too, like the buildings you'll construct ... and that's what really makes this game what it is.

Lifespan

Previous Civilization games were all addicting and kept us staring at our PC, or console(in the case of Civilization Revolution), and this game is no different. Although there is no campaign mode, this game will keep you entertained with all the upgrades, battles, and customization. Expect many hours studying your nation and how you could beat other players, in any possible way.

Conclusion

Civilization is a turn-based strategy game for every strategy player, or anyone even interested in strategy games. With all the replayability, or multiplayer madness with all your friends, you're sure to enjoy this amazing game!
